Scottish Nature Photography Awards 2017

28/03/2018

Today was the announcement of the Scottish Nature Photography Awards 2017, and I can happily say that my portfolio of ‘Cairngorms Woodland Wildlife’ was placed first in the student category!

The three images featured in the portfolio were all taken whist on a trip with Falmouth University last March (2017) in the Cairngorms National Park. It was a fantastic week, where we all got to experience some wonderful wildlife moments, some of which can be seen in the portfolio section of my website. Still to this day I have fond and lasting memories of my time spent there, and it has left me longing to return..

Therefore, I must thank David Chapman and Mark Wallwork for organising such a brilliant trip. Without their expertise and knowledge of the area, we would not have been able to experience such a beautiful part of the UK, and have so many opportunities to witness and photograph the wildlife that reside there.

I would also like to thank the Scottish Nature Photography Awards for selecting my images as their overall student winner, it is a great honour to be recognised by such a prestigious panel of judges. Congratulations also need to be extended to Tierney Lloyd, who also placed third in the student category with her ‘True Autumn’ portfolio. Her striking set of images show the Scottish landscape and woodlands in a beautiful way and dramatic way.

Head to: Scottish Nature Photography Awards to check out all the worthy winners and runner ups. The standard of work this year is phenomenal and something I am very proud to be apart of.
